| Note-taking Essentials: The Note-taking Essentials courses aim to be an introduction to note-taking skills. They can be used to induct and assess potential note-taking course participants and provide an overview of the job of note-taking for Deaf students and other disabled students.
They do not aim to replace a full note-taking course, which all people wishing to work professionally with deaf people should undertake.
In order to use the course, and view the contents, users must have Adobe Acrobat, a browser which uses Flash (as most do) and be able to unzip the files. The presentations use audio, so speakers or headphones are required. Presentations are fully accessible, as a written transcript of the audio is supplied.

 The pack includes everything that is needed to induct an aspiring note-taker. It consists of two presentations, with audio, on note-taking for Deaf students, covering communication skills with deaf students, the aims of note-taking, skills needed, conventions, tips, tricks and professional skills.
The second presentation covers note-taking for non-deaf students and provides guidance on taking notes for visually impaired, dyslexic and mobility impaired students.
The presentations are fully accessible, and supported by handouts and instructions.

Instructions for candidates, assessment criteria and guidance for administering the assessment are also included.
